Guide to the Elections
Under Law No. 459 of December 27, 2001, Italian citizens living abroad will have representation in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate of the Italian Parliament. When we vote, our voice will be heard.
Italians living abroad will vote through the mail to elect 12 Deputies and 6 Senators. The electorate is divided in 4 districts:
- Europe
- South America
- North and Central America
- Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica
Each district will elect at least one deputy and one senator. The remaining seats are distributed between the four districts proportionally based on the number of Italian citizens residing in these.
Only Italian citizens living outside of Italy may become candidates in the abroad districts.
