Washington DC - Francesco de Leo, a candidate from Washington, DC, joins the list Alternativa Indipendente Italiani all'Estero (www.AIIE.net). De Leo is a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies for the April 2006 Italian Parliament elections, which will include the vote of Italian citizens living in North and Central America.

The decision to join the AIIE list developed after Adamo and de Leo met in New York. Soon after, Serafini went to Washington, DC to officially announce the addition to the list during a meeting with some leaders of the Italian community (in the photo with de Leo)
During the announcement, Serafini described de Leo as "a young man who loves the Italian community and sincerely wants to represent the sole interest of his electorate". According to Adamo, "de Leos candidacy offers an equilibrated representation of the electoral territory". The AIIE list includes Paolo De Francesco from Mexico.
Originally from Calabria, de Leo lives in Washington DC for the past 13 years, with his wife Agnese and children Antonio, Isabella, and Stefano. As a Director within the Information Systems department of The George Washington University, as a technology consultant for international organizations, such as the World Bank, and in his advisory role to the World Wide Web Consortium, de Leo is a very talented Web engineer.
Samuele Rosa, cofounder with de Leo of the WorkCenter (a career and networking non-profit organization), states: "The human capital of concrete experiences will sustain Francesco with intelligence in this adventure". In light of his candidacy, Michele Santamaria, a historian, thanks de Leo "for giving us more than a dream, but a place, a home, an office where we can desire to work and grow: the WorkCenter".
In conclusion, de Leo said: "I hope that the Italians of North and Central America will have faith in my abilities to represent their needs in Rome", then he reminded that the details about his program are available on his web site at http://www.deleo.net.
